British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua delivered a decisive victory over social media star Jake Paul in Miami, stopping the fight in the sixth round and leaving his opponent with a broken jaw.
Joshua's Dominant Performance
The highly anticipated professional bout at the Kaseya Center on December 20, 2025, saw Joshua systematically break down the 'Problem Child'. Paul started cautiously, using movement to avoid the champion's power in the early rounds. However, once Joshua found his range and increased the pressure, the outcome became inevitable.
Anthony Joshua dropped Jake Paul twice in the fifth round and again in the sixth. A final, powerful right hand forced the referee to wave off the contest, handing Joshua a clear technical knockout victory after six rounds of action.
A Win With Mixed Feelings
Despite the emphatic win, Joshua was critical of his own performance in the aftermath. "No, I needed to do better. I needed to do better," the British boxer stated. "It's a win, but it's not a success. I think my coach expects more from me and I expect more from myself."
He emphasised his need to improve and move forward, adding, "I have to put that in the past now... I can't live off that win, I've got a lot of improvement I need to do."
Paul's Significant Injury
The physical cost for Jake Paul was severe. He suffered a broken jaw in two places during the fight. Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Paul's MVP promotions, provided a health update, confirming the American had driven himself to hospital after the bout.
"We think he broke his jaw," Bidarian said. "He's fine... A broken jaw is common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA, and I think the recovery time is four to six weeks."
The fight, a major event streamed by Netflix, marks a significant setback for Paul's boxing ambitions, while reasserting Joshua's position at the top level of the sport.
