Scottie Scheffler's caddie Ted Scott has earned up to $10m (£7.3m) during their partnership, but that figure remains below the fortune Steve Williams accrued while working with Tiger Woods.
Scheffler surpasses Woods on career money list
Scheffler, 30, moved past Woods, 50, as the PGA Tour's career money leader after winning the Tour Championship last month. The victory earned the American a $10m (£7.3m) prize, his second win in the season-ending tournament.
The four-time major winner's official career earnings now stand at $130m (£96m), surpassing the $121m (£89m) record Woods held for more than 20 years. Scheffler's win over Viktor Hovland at East Lake Golf Club meant Scott is believed to have earned $1m (£735k).
Caddie earnings in 2026
Scheffler has claimed three event wins in a productive 2026, with Scott's earnings for the year exceeding $4m (£2.9m) - a figure that puts him ahead of many PGA Tour players this season. Scott began working with the world No. 1 in 2021 and has been on the bag for all 22 of his tour victories.
Players typically give caddies 10 per cent of prize money for a win and between 5-7 per cent depending on finishing position.
Williams' record with Woods
Steve Williams worked with Woods from 1999 to 2011, a 12-year association that yielded 13 majors together. Williams is said to have built a reported fortune of $20m (£15.7m) during that period, comfortably holding the record as the highest-earning caddie in PGA Tour history.
That record may not last long, given the rate at which Scheffler continues to win events.
Scheffler credits Woods for purse growth
Speaking before the Tour Championship, Scheffler said: "The reason our purses are so large today is because of the influence and impact that Tiger had on the game. I wouldn't really consider that a Tiger record being broken. I think it just shows one of the many effects he had on the game of golf in a positive way."
