Wayne Rooney climbed Wales’ tallest mountain this weekend. The footballing legend scaled Yr Wyddfa, also known as Mount Snowdon, with his wife Coleen.
Snaps shared by Coleen on Instagram show the couple encountered both sunshine and cloudy weather on their trek up the most popular mountain in Eryri national park. She captioned the post: “After a busy week…. What do we decide to do with our very rare free weekend…. Climb Snowdon.”

Man Utd’s all-time top goalscorer has a few links to north Wales. Not only did his brother John play for Wrexham in 2016/17, but his granddad Bill Morrey and great uncle Bernard Morrey both appeared for Llandudno against Pwllheli in the 1952 Alves Cup final in Bangor.
Couple's background and recent projects
Wayne and Coleen, both 40, first met as 12-year-olds in their home city of Liverpool and became a couple aged 16. Recently they have been promoting their fly-on-the-wall Disney+ series, The Real Rooneys.
Addressing his recent weight loss, the retired striker told the Daily Mail he had been spending time in the gym. He described speculation that he had been using jabs as “a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight”.
