Luis Enrique Favourite For Liverpool Job Amid Slot Pressure

Liverpool's search for a new manager is intensifying after Arne Slot's sacking on Saturday. Fans are dreaming of appointing Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique, but formal talks with former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola are set to begin this week.

Slot's departure followed a disappointing Premier League title defence, and the club's end-of-season review concluded they want more urgent and aggressive football. Iraola, who worked with Liverpool director of football Richard Hughes at Bournemouth, is the early frontrunner. Other candidates include VfB Stuttgart's Sebastian Hoeness and Lens' Pierre Sage.

However, a growing number of Liverpool fans, including UFC star Paddy Pimblett, prefer Enrique, who just led PSG to a Champions League victory over Arsenal. Pimblett said Slot's sacking was overdue, and he hopes Enrique will leave PSG for a new challenge at Liverpool.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed confidence Enrique will stay, calling him the best coach in the world. Enrique was initially the bookies' favourite but odds shifted with Liverpool's interest in Iraola.
