Staff at a pub in the Cotswolds reportedly threatened to walk out after learning that US Vice President JD Vance had hoped to dine there during his family holiday in the UK.
The Bull pub was said to have been considered for a lunch reservation by the Vance family, but plans were swiftly changed. According to Richard Fairhurst, who runs the local Charlbury community blog, it is widely believed locally that staff refused to serve Mr Vance, although the pub has remained silent. Showbiz blog Popbitch claimed that “mutinous staff” said they would not come to work if they had to serve the vice president and his wife.
However, a source close to Mr Vance played down the incident, saying The Bull was “included as a potential option for lunch” but the family ultimately decided not to go. The source added that there was never any indication from the pub that the family were unwelcome.
The Bull is owned by florist Willow Crossley, whose floral designs featured at the 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle. Mr Vance's UK visit has sparked controversy, with locals complaining about police convoys and helicopters.
Separately, Mr Vance's friendship with reality TV star Tom Skinner has drawn attention, with Mr Skinner recently posting on social media about a BBQ with the vice president in the English countryside.
