Marjorie Taylor Greene Demands Republican Party Be Destroyed and Rebuilt
In a stunning reversal, former MAGA stalwart Marjorie Taylor Greene has declared that the Republican Party must "burn to the ground" to be reborn anew. Greene, once a fervent supporter of Donald Trump, now claims the party has devolved into a dangerous "cult" under his leadership, with lawmakers beholden to pro-Israel interests rather than American priorities.
A Dramatic Break from Trump and Party Loyalty
Speaking on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' InfoWars podcast, Greene delivered a scathing assessment of the GOP's current state. "Here's what we have to do: we have to be realistic about the Republican Party," she stated. "The Republican Party needs to burn to the ground. It's completely controlled." Greene specifically targeted lawmakers she alleges are "controlled by [the American Israel Public Affairs Committee]", accusing them of abandoning U.S. interests to pursue Middle East conflicts.
The former Georgia congresswoman, who has positioned herself as an "America First" advocate, argued that Trump's presidency has created a base of undying loyalty that prevents critical examination. "We want to cheer and root for America, but you don't have to be in a cult where you can't call it out," Greene insisted. "That is what this has turned into. It's turned into a cult."
From Ally to Vocal Critic
Greene's transformation from one of Trump's loudest congressional supporters to his vocal critic marks a significant political shift. The rift began earlier this year when she pushed for the release of Epstein files, leading Trump to withdraw his support for her as a Republican representative. Since then, Greene has:
- Accused Trump of mental instability following his threats against Iran
- Criticized Fox News for "spewing propaganda" to maintain boomer loyalty to Trump
- Insisted "this is not the same man" she supported for a decade
Greene joins other former Trump allies like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens who have distanced themselves from the president over his foreign policy decisions, particularly regarding Iran.
Vision for a New Political Movement
The former congresswoman outlined her vision for what should replace the current Republican Party. She emphasized that future candidates should not accept money from AIPAC or "AIPAC-adjacent donors". Greene attempted to deflect accusations of antisemitism by claiming her criticism targets "the secular government of Israel" rather than Jewish people, despite her history of controversial remarks including promoting conspiracy theories about Jewish-controlled space lasers and inappropriate Holocaust comparisons.
On social media platform X, Greene expanded her vision, telling Democratic Representative Ro Khanna: "We need a strong populist coalition of the right and left that can come together on the most important issues for future generations of Americans." She expressed willingness to "come together, go to the whiteboard, and begin to try to sketch something new" for her children's generation.
Greene and Jones confirmed they plan to continue criticizing Trump in hopes of drawing supporters away from his movement, signaling an ongoing campaign to reshape American conservative politics from outside traditional party structures.
