Roberto De Zerbi faces a significant summer at Tottenham, with former midfielder Sandro predicting a 'massive change' under the Italian. Sandro, who played for both Spurs and under De Zerbi at Benevento, urged the club to back their new manager in the same way Arsenal supported Mikel Arteta.
De Zerbi guided Tottenham to Premier League survival after taking over late in the season, securing 11 points from the final six fixtures. This preserved the club's top-flight status and roughly £250million in potential lost revenue, giving the 46-year-old considerable influence over the club's new era.
Sandro believes Tottenham must trust De Zerbi's philosophy and give him time to implement his style. 'It will be a massive change,' Sandro said. 'We need to be balanced, attacking and direct, but be ready when we need to defend.' He cited Arsenal's patience with Arteta as a model for success.
The former midfielder expects attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window, with Richarlison and Cristian Romero likely to leave. 'Players will probably leave, like Richarlison probably will leave,' Sandro said. 'Romero will probably leave as well, and we need to strengthen that central defence zone.'
Sandro also highlighted the need for a new striker and winger, linking Tottenham with Manchester City's Savinho. He advised the club to act quickly in the market, learning from the missed opportunity for Eberechi Eze last summer.
