Arsenal have received a potential boost in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez after his Atletico Madrid teammate Marcos Llorente cast doubt on the striker's future at the club. The 26-year-old former Manchester City forward has been linked with a move away from Spain, with Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona all reportedly interested.
Llorente told Spanish radio station El Partidazo de COPE that he is uncertain about Alvarez's plans, saying: 'I don't know what he will do. Neither does he, as things stand today. I don't ask him. He seems fine to me, but maybe he wants to leave and we don't know.' Spanish outlet Cadena SER has claimed Alvarez has expressed a desire to leave Spain, which could encourage Arsenal to make a move.
Alvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City in 2022 and has scored 49 goals in two seasons for the club. However, a fee of up to £90million could be demanded for the striker, who has also attracted interest from PSG and Barcelona. Arsenal are preparing for their Champions League final against PSG on Saturday, having already secured the Premier League title.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also being linked with a move for Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, but face competition from Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG. Villa are reportedly demanding at least £80m for the 23-year-old, who scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists this season. Early talks have taken place between the clubs, but Rogers is said to be focusing on the World Cup this summer before deciding his future.
