Victoria Beckham has responded to her eldest son Brooklyn's claims that the family prioritises a 'brand' over authenticity. In a new interview, the 52-year-old fashion designer insisted that the so-called 'brand Beckham' was never a deliberate creation.
Speaking to entrepreneur Emma Grede on her podcast, Victoria said, 'When David and I first met it was never our intention to start a brand.' She described the family's public image as having developed 'organically', contrasting it with her and David's individual careers before they met.
Brooklyn had previously criticised his parents for being 'performative' and said he wanted no part in 'brand Beckham'. Victoria addressed this indirectly, stating that she and David have no joint business deals and each focus on their own projects. 'David does what David does, I do what I do,' she said.
Victoria also rejected suggestions that she is a 'pushy parent'. She said, 'It's never about being pushy or forcing,' adding that she simply wants her children to be hardworking and kind, and to help them fulfil their potential.
