US Lawmaker Calls for Sarah Ferguson to Testify Over Epstein Connections
A prominent US lawmaker has issued a direct appeal to Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, urging her to provide testimony concerning her associations with the late convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Virginia Democrat House Representative Suhas Subramanyam has formally requested Ferguson's cooperation with a congressional investigation into Epstein's criminal operations.
High-Profile Pressure Mounts on Former Duchess
This letter represents the most significant public pressure Ferguson has encountered since the Epstein Files scandal began to unfold. Subramanyam's communication, which has been reviewed by the BBC, explicitly references Ferguson's "close personal and business ties" with Epstein. The lawmaker's plea extends to seeking any additional knowledge Ferguson may possess regarding the involvement of her former husband, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, with the disgraced financier.
The correspondence states: "I write to seek your cooperation with the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking operations. The Committee is seeking information from anyone who has knowledge of Mr Epstein's criminal operations, and reports and released Department of Justice files reveal your close personal and business ties with Mr Epstein."
Continued Contact After Conviction Revealed
Investigations have revealed that Sarah Ferguson maintained a longstanding friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and continued to exchange friendly messages with him even after his 2008 conviction for child sex offences. This ongoing contact has raised serious questions and intensified scrutiny from US officials.
Subramanyam's letter emphasizes the committee's dual objectives: "As the Committee seeks justice for the survivors of Mr Epstein's criminal enterprise, and transparency for the American public, I respectfully request your cooperation with the Committee's investigation."
The formal request marks a pivotal development in the ongoing Epstein investigation, directly involving a member of the British royal family's extended circle. Legal experts suggest this could lead to increased international cooperation demands and further revelations about the scope of Epstein's network.
