Tess Daly and Vernon Kay have announced their separation after 22 years of marriage. The former Strictly Come Dancing host and the TV and radio star released a joint statement on Friday, May 8, confirming their decision to part ways amicably.
The couple, who married in September 2003 and have two daughters, Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16, said in the statement: 'After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably. This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us.' They emphasised their commitment to co-parenting and asked for privacy.
Just hours before the announcement, Daly appeared in good spirits as she joined her eldest daughter Phoebe for a TikTok dance video. Phoebe captioned the post: 'Mum's TikTok era pending?' The video showed the pair dancing to Salt-N-Pepa's 1993 hit 'Shoop' at home.
Daly had recently shared her joy at being reunited with Phoebe after her temporary move to New York earlier this year. The family enjoyed a holiday in the Caribbean last month, and just days before the split news, Daly posted a photo of a picnic with her daughter, writing: 'Got my Phoebe back for a few days and making the most of every moment.'
Vernon Kay also shared a snap with Phoebe on Instagram, enjoying rooftop drinks in London. The split announcement came as a surprise to fans, with the couple having appeared united in recent social media posts.
