Taylor Swift's bodyguard was seen with a Stella McCartney dress in a garment bag outside of her New York apartment, intensifying speculation about who will design her wedding gown. The 36-year-old pop star, who recently partied with friend Lena Dunham, is set to marry football star Travis Kelce in New York City on July 3, as confirmed by Daily Mail.
Swifties have been eagerly guessing which designer the 'Style' hitmaker will choose for her big day, and this sighting is sure to raise eyebrows. The bodyguard was observed outside her home with a large white garment bag and a tote bag from the 54-year-old English high-fashion designer Stella McCartney.
Daily Mail has reached out to Swift's representatives for comment but has not yet received a response. Although the designer remains unconfirmed, the inspiration for the wedding dress has been revealed. Last month, Daily Mail exclusively reported that the gown will be inspired by Elizabeth Taylor's dress when she married Conrad Hilton in 1950.
Swift made her admiration for the late 'Cleopatra' actress clear when she wrote a song dedicated to her on her latest album, 'The Life Of A Showgirl.' A source told Daily Mail: 'Taylor spent so much time looking at old photos of Elizabeth Taylor when she was making her music video for that song that she became enamored with the movie queen's style. So when she started thinking about her wedding dress, she looked up Elizabeth's old gowns online.'
Swift was particularly taken by the 1950 gown because it was 'so flattering,' said the source. 'Taylor said she liked how it was old-fashioned and came in at the waistline, plus the lace detailing.' The source did not reveal the fashion designer working on the dress—speculation has included Sarah Burton (formerly of Alexander McQueen) or Vivienne Westwood—but confirmed it was not Oscar de la Renta.
Hilton and Taylor were married on May 6, 1950, when Taylor was 18. Their lavish wedding was a major media event, also serving as promotion for Taylor's film 'Father Of The Bride.' The marriage lasted only eight months, ending in divorce in 1951. Nicky Hilton Jr was the son of Hilton Hotels founder Conrad Hilton, making him Paris Hilton's great-uncle.
Meanwhile, it has been previously claimed that Swift has asked some of her celebrity pals to be bridesmaids, including Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid. Her A-list friends are reportedly planning surprises for the upcoming nuptials to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. According to The U.S. Sun, some close celebrity pals in the bridal party will show never-before-seen photos and videos of the pop star to wedding guests. 'Much of the footage shows Taylor smiling and laughing, as she absolutely loves how funny Travis is,' a source told the outlet.
Gomez is also working on a special performance by the bridal party, who will belt out Swift's hits from over the years. 'Everyone loved the chance to praise Taylor while singing and dancing together,' the insider said. Kelce is reportedly set to take part in the moment and 'wants to do everything he can to ensure she has the best wedding day ever and to build lasting memories.'
Last month in April, Daily Mail confirmed that Swift and Kelce—who have been romantically linked since 2023—are set to tie the knot in New York on July 3. It was previously speculated that the couple would say 'I do' at her lavish Rhode Island estate. Guests who received an invitation have also been required to RSVP with a signed NDA to help keep details of the nuptials private, per a source. The exact location of the wedding is not known, but it is said to be an arena or museum-like space.
Last year in August, Kelce popped the question, and Swift shared photos from the intimate engagement on Instagram with the caption: 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.' The sports player had turned his backyard in Kansas City into a secret garden wonderland, offering a romantic atmosphere. He had asked Swift to marry him shortly after they recorded an episode of his 'New Heights' podcast together. Two months after the pair tie the knot, Kelce is scheduled to kick off the new NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs in September.
