Ruby Wax has criticised ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! for broadcasting former boxer David Haye's controversial comments. Haye, 45, sparked backlash after referring to his girlfriend as an 'ugly bird' and branding actor Adam Thomas 'useless' for missing a Bushtucker Trial due to a medical condition.
Speaking to The Mirror, Wax expressed dismay that the network aired such behaviour, warning that children might view Haye as a hero. She contrasted this with her own experience on the show in 2013, where producers assured her the camp would be filled with likeable contestants who treated each other with respect.
Wax praised her former campmates, noting that they bonded over personal stories and formed genuine connections regardless of age or background. She said: 'Once we're human to human, there's no difference.'
The comedian also recalled her infamous 1998 interview with OJ Simpson, alleging he tried to stab her with a banana after searching for a knife. Simpson, acquitted of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, later called Wax during an April Fools' prank, claiming 'I did it' before laughing it off.
Wax is currently touring the UK with her show and supporting the Big Give's Earth Raise campaign, which aims to raise £10 million for environmental charities.
