Richard Osman has announced when Michael Sheen will take over as host of the popular BBC quiz show, House of Games. Osman, who has presented the programme since its launch in 2017, is filming his final episodes this week, with Sheen recording his first batch.
In an Instagram post, Osman shared a photo with the actor and wrote: 'It’s handover day on #HouseOfGames! My final week, followed by Michael’s first week will be on air, I’m guessing in September. Can’t wait to watch him.'
Osman previously confirmed his departure on his podcast, The Rest is Entertainment, saying: 'It will no longer be Richard Osman’s House of Games. I just wanted to go on record saying how much I love it and loved it.' He described his time on the show as 'such a great pleasure and honour'.
The format features four celebrities competing for daily prizes over five episodes each week. Osman, who also co-created the show, has been a fixture on British television, previously serving as co-host of Pointless and working behind the scenes on programmes such as Deal or No Deal and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Osman recently received an OBE in the New Year Honours for services to culture, recognising his contributions to literature and broadcasting. He is the author of the best-selling Thursday Murder Club series, which has sold over 15 million copies worldwide and is being adapted into a Netflix film.
