Recently unsealed court documents from the Epstein Files have revealed that US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr once participated in a "dinosaur bone hunting" trip with the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. The revelation adds to the growing list of high-profile individuals connected to the disgraced financier.
Email Exchange Confirms the Fossil Hunting Outing
In an email exchange dated August 5, 2012, Epstein described a fossil hunting experience to Maxwell, writing: "Dinosaur and fossil hunting with jack homer on the ranch, found 90 million year old clams and fossils. right up your alley." Maxwell promptly replied, "Love that - didn't we go fossil hunting with him and Bobby Kennedy in N Dakota?" Epstein's response was a simple "Yes."
This correspondence explicitly confirms the joint excursion, though the precise date of the trip remains unclear. The documents form part of the latest batch of Epstein Files, which have continued to expose connections between Epstein's network and various public figures.
Maxwell's Testimony and Kennedy's Admissions
During an interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, obtained by Politico, Maxwell confirmed the trip occurred. She stated, "Because we went on a trip together. … We went dinosaur bone hunting in the Dakotas." However, she claimed to have no recollection of flying with Kennedy specifically.
Kennedy himself has publicly acknowledged his associations with Epstein. In a December 2023 interview with Fox News' Jesse Watters, he admitted, "I was on Jeffrey Epstein's jet two times." He detailed one flight to Palm Beach, Florida, with his wife and children over Easter, and another to Rapid City, South Dakota, for a fossil hunting weekend with his family.
Kennedy emphasized that these flights took place before Epstein's 2008 conviction for child sex trafficking, stating they occurred "before anybody knew about Jeffrey Epstein's nefarious issues." Flight records corroborate the 1994 trip to Palm Beach, but no records exist for the Dakota journey.
Broader Implications and Other Revelations
The latest document releases have proven embarrassing for several individuals associated with former President Donald Trump's administration. For instance, billionaire Elon Musk was found to have inquired about the "wildest" party on Epstein's island years after Epstein's conviction.
Additionally, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was revealed to have maintained contact with Epstein post-conviction, despite previous assertions he would never associate with him again. Chummy emails show the pair arranged to meet for drinks in 2011.
These disclosures underscore the extensive and enduring connections within Epstein's network, raising ongoing questions about the interactions between powerful figures and the convicted sex offender.
