Solange Breaks Silence on Jay Z Lift Incident

Solange Knowles has spoken publicly for the first time about the altercation with Jay Z in a lift following the Met Gala in May. In an interview with Lucky Magazine, she said: 'What's important is that my family and I are all good.'

The incident, captured on security footage leaked by TMZ, shows Solange apparently kicking and hitting her brother-in-law Jay Z while Beyonce looks on. A security guard restrains Solange and appears to stop the lift. The Standard Hotel in New York, where the incident occurred, later confirmed it had fired the employee who recorded and leaked the video.

Solange declined to discuss the details of the argument, referring to it as 'that thing'. She added: 'What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.' The joint statement from Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z in May said they had 'moved forward as a united family' and that 'Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility'.

The singer also spoke about her bond with sister Beyonce, saying their parents taught them to hold on to their family bond. 'We've always held each other down no matter what,' she said. Reports of Solange being drunk or displaying erratic behaviour were denied in the joint statement.
