Southampton Protesters Hurl Missiles at Police Near Murder Scene
Protesters Hurl Missiles at Police in Southampton

Protesters gathered outside Southampton Central Police Station following the conviction of Vikrum Digwa for the murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak. The demonstration escalated as missiles were thrown at police officers.

Details of the Incident

Vikrum Digwa, 23, was convicted this week of murdering Mr. Nowak with a "Sikh dagger" in Southampton in December 2025. Digwa had initially lied to police, claiming he was the victim of a racist attack.

Body-worn camera footage from the incident showed Mr. Nowak, who was initially arrested himself, repeatedly saying: "I've been stabbed," to which an officer replied: "Don't think you have, mate." Sir Keir Starmer stated that the footage made him feel sick.

Protest Escalation

Following the protest outside the police station, a group walked to the St Denys area, near where the murder occurred. Chairs, cans, and flares were thrown at police in riot gear, forcing officers and three police vans to retreat from their position.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as tensions remain high in the community.
