Royal Daughters Dragged Into Epstein Scandal as Father's Christmas Cards Emerge
In a shocking development that has further embroiled the British royal family in controversy, newly released documents have revealed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor sent photographs of his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein during the festive season. The revelations come from a tranche of approximately three million documents released by the US Department of Justice on Friday, casting fresh scrutiny on the disgraced former Duke of York's connections.
Festive Photographs Shared with Convicted Sex Offender
The documents show that Andrew, the King's brother, included intimate family photographs in two Christmas emails sent to Epstein in 2011 and 2012. These communications occurred despite the former prince's previous claims that he had severed all contact with the financier following his 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution. At the time these images were shared, Princess Eugenie was aged 21 and 22, while her sister Beatrice was 23 and 24.
The first email, dispatched on December 21, 2011 from Andrew's official "HRH The Duke of York" account, featured a Christmas card displaying four photographs. These included an image of the princesses posing together in the snow, with Beatrice wearing a silver Christmas cracker hat and ear muffs, while Eugenie appeared wrapped in a fur hat and brown scarf. The card bore the message: "Wishing you much joy and happiness at this time and for the year ahead," and was personally signed by Andrew.
Second Christmas Card Reveals Further Family Images
A second festive card followed on December 20, 2012, containing additional photographs of the royal sisters. These images captured Beatrice posing with one hand on her hip while climbing Mont Blanc in February 2012, and Eugenie participating in a Night Rider charity cycling event in London, wearing high-visibility clothing and a helmet. The princess had raised £9,000 for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and the MCC Foundation's project to build a cricket stadium in Rwanda through this endeavour.
Royal expert and former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond has described this development as creating "trying times" for the family, suggesting that Beatrice and Eugenie are likely feeling "hugely conflicted" by these revelations. Reports indicate that Eugenie, who has established The Anti-Slavery Collective to combat sex trafficking, is finding the situation particularly difficult given her father's refusal to apologise to Epstein's victims.
Wider Revelations from Epstein Document Release
The Christmas card revelations form just one part of the embarrassing content concerning Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson within the newly released files. Other significant disclosures include:
- Photographs appearing to show Andrew leaning over a young woman lying on the floor and touching her stomach
- Romantic email exchanges between Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell featuring terms of endearment like "sweetheart" and "darling"
- An invitation extended to Epstein for dinner at Buckingham Palace shortly after his house arrest for soliciting sex from a minor concluded
- Sarah Ferguson referring to Epstein as "the brother I have always wished for" in correspondence discussing her financial debts
- Email communications between Maxwell and former First Lady Melania Trump
Daughters Navigate Complex Family Dynamics
Publicly, Beatrice and Eugenie have significantly limited their contact with their parents since files related to Epstein began emerging at the end of 2025. However, the sisters are reportedly concerned about both Andrew and Sarah's mental wellbeing. While Beatrice has maintained some contact, inviting her father to her daughter Athena's christening last month and accompanying him on horse rides, Eugenie is said to have taken a firmer stance.
Despite their parents being stripped of royal titles and privileges last October over their Epstein connections, King Charles has deliberately kept Beatrice and Eugenie within the royal fold, allowing them to retain their titles and inviting them to traditional royal Christmas celebrations at Sandringham. This careful balancing act reflects the complex position the princesses now occupy as they navigate their father's increasingly humiliating situation while maintaining their own standing within the monarchy.
The latest document release continues to unravel the extensive connections between high-profile figures and Jeffrey Epstein, with communications involving Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Bill Clinton, and Bill Gates also featuring in the files. For the British royal family, these revelations represent yet another challenging chapter in a scandal that shows no signs of abating.
