Sean O'Malley has heavily criticised the mandated fight kits for the UFC's upcoming White House event, describing them as 'ugly' and comparing the design to something bought on Fiverr. The former bantamweight champion, known for his flamboyant style, voiced his displeasure on his podcast ahead of his bout against Aiemann Zahabi on 14 June.
The event, named UFC Freedom 250, will take place on the South Lawn to celebrate 250 years of the United States. It was organised partly due to the friendship between US President Donald Trump and UFC chief Dana White. O'Malley said he felt the kits lacked effort, but quipped that he would turn his white shorts red with Zahabi's blood.
O'Malley, 31, won the bantamweight title in 2023 but lost it to Merab Dvalishvili last year. He returned to winning ways with a narrow points victory over Song Yadong in January and is ranked second in the division. Zahabi, 38, is ranked sixth and enters the fight on the back of wins over Marlon Vera and Jose Aldo.
The main event of UFC Freedom 250 features Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against interim champion Justin Gaethje, while Alex Pereira faces Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight belt in the co-main event. The card also includes Derrick Lewis against Josh Hokit, a fight added at Trump's request after Hokit's impressive win in April.
