Trump Organization Wins Legal Battle to Keep Bronx Golf Course

A New York judge has ruled that the Trump Organization can continue to operate a public golf course in the Bronx, rejecting the city's attempt to terminate the contract following the January 6 Capitol riot. The decision, issued on Friday by Manhattan state court Judge Debra James, found that New York City's rationale for cancelling the deal was baseless.

The city, under former Mayor Bill de Blasio, had sought to end the Trump Organization's license to run Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, arguing that the company breached its contract by failing to attract professional tournaments after the PGA of America cancelled an event at one of Trump's New Jersey clubs. However, Judge James noted that the contract only required the course to be 'first-class, tournament quality,' not to host specific tournaments.

The Trump Organization hailed the ruling as a victory. A spokesman told DailyMail.com: 'This is not just a win for The Trump Organization – this is a win for the people of the City of New York and for the hundreds of our hard-working employees at Ferry Point.' The company described the city's actions as a 'political vendetta' by de Blasio.

The case has been sent back to the city for further proceedings. The city could still terminate the contract without cause, but would then be required to compensate the Trump Organization for its investment in building a clubhouse on the course. The decision marks a recovery for the Trump Organization from the business fallout after the Capitol riots, including a recent $100 million loan and the sale of its Washington D.C. hotel.
