A newly updated royal book by Andrew Lownie has unveiled a series of startling allegations about Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, painting a deeply troubling picture of their conduct behind palace doors. The book, titled Entitled: The Rise and Fall of The House of York, draws on interviews with former staff, associates, and palace insiders, exposing behaviour that many would find shocking from members of the royal family.
Animal Cruelty Allegations
One of the most disturbing claims involves an incident at a Sandringham shooting weekend, where Andrew is alleged to have kicked his Labrador in the head after the dog stole a sausage roll from a guest's hand. The guest reportedly reprimanded Andrew, who responded with an expletive, telling them it was none of their business. Later, Prince Philip is said to have approached the guest and agreed that Andrew needed a 'good scolding'.
Sarah Ferguson's Epstein Ties
The book also details Sarah Ferguson's ongoing connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. A witness claims that Fergie stayed at a block of flats allegedly owned by Epstein's brother in late 2013, more than two years after she publicly disowned Epstein. Additionally, Epstein is alleged to have paid for flights for Fergie and her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie to visit him after his release from prison.
Financial Misconduct and Freebies
Sarah Ferguson is portrayed as financially chaotic, with a long-serving personal assistant claiming she rarely paid for anything. The book alleges that she used Princess Beatrice's credit card, paid a psychic in cigarettes, and demanded lavish freebies from charities. One charity founder recounts how Fergie's demands for a charity dinner included two luxury suites, a chauffeur, and a business-class ticket, costing 10,000 Swiss francs.
Andrew's Treatment of Staff
Former staff describe Andrew as foul and demanding, requiring aides to curtsey or bow to his satisfaction. One staff member recalled that if Andrew thought a curtsey was insufficient, he would stand over them and make them repeat it until he was satisfied. Another PA said staff walked on eggshells when he was around.
Strained Family Relationships
The book claims that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have fractured relationships with their parents, particularly Andrew. Lownie suggests that Eugenie not telling her father about her pregnancy is a sign of how strained their relationship has become. Additionally, the sisters reportedly refused a request from Prince William and King Charles to submit to a financial audit, continuing to use their titles for paid appearances.
Andrew's New Life in Norfolk
Now living in Norfolk, Andrew is said to be filled with regret, spending his time playing video games like Call of Duty on a supersized TV. A staff member claims he prioritises gaming over work, health, and hygiene. Andrew reportedly told a staffer that 'money isn't an issue' but that he feels 'a deep-rooted sense of being alone in the world'.
Call for a Royal Register
Lownie argues for the creation of a royal register, similar to the parliamentary register, to prevent royals from profiting from their status without transparency. He believes this would help protect the monarchy from 'bad actors'.
The Mirror has approached Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Buckingham Palace for comment. The updated version of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of The House of York is now available.
