A 45-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following an axe attack in a west London park that left a 31-year-old man in a critical condition.
Police were called to Acton Park at around 5.30pm on April 2 after reports of an altercation. Officers found the victim with a stab wound to his back and provided first aid before he was taken to hospital by ambulance and air ambulance crews.
Adam Abdillahi, of no fixed address, was arrested on April 9 and charged the following day. He appeared at Ealing Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. A second man, aged 44, was arrested on April 4 on suspicion of attempted murder and later bailed.
Detective Inspector John Gillespie, leading the investigation, said: 'Our thoughts remain with the man and his family as he continues to receive medical treatment. This incident took place towards the bottom of the park, close to a busy main road, tennis courts and a mini golf course. If you were nearby and saw anything, or captured any footage on your phone, please come forward and speak to police.'
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to call 101 quoting CAD 5835/2APR or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
