Married At First Sight star Ines Basic has broken her silence over the alleged affair with Sam Ball, liking a fan comment on Instagram that criticised producers for creating a 'villain' storyline. The 28-year-old legal assistant endorsed a post that described the show as 'contrived' and suggested producers orchestrated the drama.
The fan comment, which Ines liked, stated: 'I don't understand why they both can't admit they like each other, formed a connection and be honest. I'm sure the others would have respected that early on if they were truthful.' It added that producers 'lead them down this path to construct a villain storyline.'
The controversy escalated during Tuesday's episode when Sam's on-screen wife Elizabeth Sobinoff, 27, confronted Ines during a girls' night out. Ines denied any involvement with Sam, despite having been in bed with him the previous night, and launched a verbal attack on Elizabeth, calling her 'foul', 'pathetic' and a 'full-blown cockatoo'.
Ines dodged Elizabeth's questions, stating: 'I think this is absolutely your problem.' When Elizabeth pressed the other women for information, Ines retorted: 'Don't you think your drama is so not unnecessary? We all came here to have a good time. You're like a walking problem.'
The confrontation continued as Ines told Elizabeth to 'get away' and later described her stance as 'like a full blown cockatoo with her claws out'. The incident has sparked further debate about producer manipulation on the reality show.
