Married At First Sight Australia star Bec Zacharia has broken her silence after finding herself at the centre of a bridal dress hire controversy, stating that her "life has crumbled" as she faces a torrent of online abuse.
Controversy Erupts Over Dress Rental
The drama unfolded when Bec revealed on a podcast that she had spent nearly $20k on MAFS and did not rent outfits. This prompted the owner of bridal gown hire firm RESRVD to come forward, alleging that Bec had used their services for her Final Vows outfit in exchange for publicity but failed to deliver on promised promotion.
RESRVD's owner Savannah vented online: "There's small businesses behind these television shows and the brides that are wearing them and it is incredibly disappointing when a small business is not given the recognition that they are promised."
Bec's Response and Emotional Toll
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Bec revealed that her business Instagram account has been removed, which is her only source of income. "All of the deals that I've got going on rely on me having my Instagram, and the hate that I'm getting every five minutes, I'm getting abuse," she said.
She expressed regret over the lack of communication, stating: "I wish there had been communication where she could have told me her grievances... I would have done everything to fix that for her."
Bec described the Final Vows and the gown as "triggering" due to the heartache she endured after being dumped by her on-screen husband Danny. She told news.com.au: "My life is crumbled, and I can't get away from abuse."
Background on Bec's MAFS Journey
Bec's time on MAFS attracted widespread criticism for her on-screen conduct during a chaotic series. She was left heartbroken at Final Vows, admitting she felt blindsided by Danny after declaring her love for him. Since leaving the show, she has been dealing with the fallout from her behaviour and enduring online backlash.
The American version of MAFS, currently airing on E4, has been branded "more toxic" than the Australian original, but fans haven't forgotten the explosive Aussie season.
