Professional dancer Luba Mushtuk has officially ended her 10-year association with Strictly Come Dancing, making her final appearance during the show's annual tour on 31 May. The emotional farewell marked the conclusion of a significant chapter for the dancer, who joined the BBC show as a professional in 2018 after two years as an assistant choreographer.
Emotional Farewell
Mushtuk delivered a heartfelt message to fans, stating that while this 'dance has come to an end,' new opportunities are on the horizon. She broke down in tears on stage, expressing gratitude for the support she has received over the years. Her departure is part of a substantial cast shake-up for the upcoming 2026 series, which also includes the exits of fellow dancers Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova, Michelle Tsiakkis, and Gorka Marquez. Notably, Marquez's decision to leave was his own.
Reasons for Leaving
Mushtuk cited a desire to 'follow my dreams beyond the show' as her reason for stepping away. Having previously partnered with celebrities such as James Cracknell, Jason Bell, Adam Thomas, and Nick Knowles, her furthest progression in the competition was reaching week seven with Adam Thomas. Her tenure on the show has been marked by memorable performances and a dedicated fan base.
Broader Changes at Strictly
The show is undergoing significant changes beyond the dance floor. The presenting team is also being refreshed, with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman being replaced by a new trio comprising Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and former professional Johannes Radebe. These changes come ahead of Strictly Come Dancing's return to BBC One in September. The upcoming series promises to be a new era for the beloved dance competition.
