Louise Thompson has apologised after she and Ryan Libbey faced backlash over comments made on their podcast, He Said, She Said. The former Made In Chelsea stars discussed a Guardian report about a survey of teachers, which found that approximately one in four children starting reception in 2025 were not toilet-trained. The report also noted that 28 per cent of children could not eat and drink independently.
During the podcast, Libbey said, “You've got a large number of kids in reception who've got nappies on, and they can't feed or drink themselves,” prompting laughter from Thompson. Viewers described the conversation as “shocking” and “disappointing”, pointing out that children with special educational needs and disabilities (Send) may still require nappies at that age.
Thompson has since apologised, clarifying that the statistics were not referring to Send children or those with a disability. She added, “What this has taught us is that we should have considered those other groups of children and this is an area that is so under-discovered.”
