Former Chelsea captain John Terry has expressed serious concerns about the club's direction following the dismissal of head coach Liam Rosenior, who was sacked just three months into a six-year contract. Terry, who currently serves as a part-time mentor in Chelsea's academy, admitted he is “worrying” about the club's inability to sign new players, the potential need to sell key assets, and the likelihood of missing out on European football next season.
Rosenior's Tenure Cut Short
Rosenior's departure comes after a dismal run of five consecutive Premier League defeats, during which Chelsea failed to score a single goal. The club's hierarchy acted swiftly, but Terry questioned whether a “real top manager” would be willing to take over given the current instability. Under-21s coach Calum McFarlane has been appointed as interim manager until the end of the season, though Terry confirmed he has not been approached to assist.
Terry's Call for Focus
In a video statement criticising the club's ownership, Terry urged the players to ignore external “noise” and concentrate on the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United on Sunday. He emphasised the importance of unity and performance on the pitch amid the off-field turmoil.
The former defender's remarks highlight growing unease among Chelsea legends about the club's trajectory under its current management and ownership structure.
