John Terry on Chelsea Crisis: Video Criticises Owners

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has expressed his deep concern over the future of the club following the dismissal of head coach Liam Rosenior. In a video posted on his TikTok account, Terry, who currently serves as a part-time mentor in Chelsea's academy, voiced his frustration and worry about the direction the club is heading under its current ownership.

Terry's Concerns

“I sit here worrying tonight about what is going to happen with our football club,” Terry said. He questioned whether a top-tier manager would be willing to join Chelsea given the current circumstances, including the inability to buy players and the potential need to sell key assets. “Is a real top manager going to come to Chelsea Football Club at the moment in the position we are in? Can’t buy players, looking like we are going to have to sell potentially and that will be our best players, which is always tough. We will not be playing in European football, I hope I am wrong.”

Terry also confirmed that he had not been contacted about assisting interim manager Calum McFarlane, who took over after Rosenior's sacking. Rosenior was dismissed just three months into a six-year contract, with Chelsea unlikely to qualify for next season's Champions League. McFarlane, the Under-21s coach, will lead the team until the end of the season, having previously overseen a draw at Manchester City following Enzo Maresca's departure earlier in the campaign.

Frustration and Call for Unity

“Really, really frustrated, and worried more importantly. I feel the anger, feel the frustration of the Chelsea supporters,” Terry added. He urged the players to focus on the upcoming match against Leeds United, ignoring the surrounding noise. “What the players have to do is just get together and really focus on the weekend’s game and forget about all the noise around and everything. We have a massive game, it is really difficult, but also really easy to do as players to forget the noise and focus on what’s ahead of you and that is the Leeds game at the weekend.”

Terry, who works two days a month in his mentor role at the academy, previously expressed frustration in February at being overlooked for the interim role after Maresca's departure. He stated he “should have been a part” of the caretaker group that managed the draw at Manchester City. “I am not sure what Calum’s backroom staff is going to look like, I have not had a call, I have not had a message,” he said in his latest video. “I will be continuing my role in the academy, I will be in the academy tomorrow, a big couple of games coming up. We will all get behind Calum, he did a great job away against Man City previously and we will get behind the boys because that is what we do.”
