Jo Whiley Recalls 'Horrible' Eminem Interview That Left Her Feeling 'Tiny and Stupid'

Veteran broadcaster Jo Whiley has opened up about a distressing interview with Eminem and Dr Dre, describing it as a 'really unpleasant experience' that left her feeling 'tiny and stupid'. The 60-year-old radio DJ made the admission on the 'Dig It' podcast with Zoe Ball, reflecting on moments when she felt starstruck.

Whiley recalled that her first encounter with Eminem, early in his career, was pleasant—he was 'shy and polite', calling her 'ma'am'. However, when he returned a few years later with Dr Dre, his demeanour had changed drastically. 'They were just so playful with me—and can I just say they made me feel so tiny and so stupid,' she said.

The mother of five also spoke about battling anxiety during the height of her DJ career in the 1990s. She told Woman's Health that she once felt so scared before a gig that she thought, 'I can't go on like this'. Realising the joy her performances brought to others was a 'game changer' that helped her cope.

Despite turning 60 in July, Whiley insists age is 'not a big deal'. She told Woman and Home: 'I don't see age as important... It's bizarre because I'm only another year older than I was last year.' She continues to be one of the most sought-after DJs in the industry.
