Jeremy Clarkson has disclosed that he was just days away from suffering a heart attack, after doctors discovered severe blockages in his arteries. The revelation comes in the latest season of his Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm, which shows the presenter in hospital hooked up to machines.
In the new episodes, Clarkson, 66, tells co-star Kaleb Cooper that he initially feared he was having a heart attack. However, doctors informed him that while it was not a heart attack, his condition was critical. “I said, ‘How close was I to a heart attack?’ and he went... ‘days’,” Clarkson recalls.
The former Top Gear host explains that a scan revealed one of his three coronary arteries was totally blocked, another was severely clogged, and the third had formed branches due to blockages. He credits a coincidental pins-and-needles sensation in his arm, caused by scrolling on his phone, for prompting him to seek medical help.
Clarkson reassures fans that he is now “absolutely fine” and has lost some weight. Speaking to Heart Breakfast, he said: “It was quite a fraught year last year but no, I’m absolutely fine now. Tickety-boo.”
