Actor Jack Shepherd, best known for his role as Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe in the ITV drama Wycliffe, left almost £1 million in his will to his second wife, Ann Scott, following his death last November at the age of 85.
According to reports, Shepherd’s estate totalled £977,511, with the entire sum bequeathed to Ann, whom he married in the 1970s. He is survived by Ann and his five children: Jan, Jake, Victoria, Catherine and Ben. His first marriage to Judith Harland produced Jan and Jake.
Shepherd’s agents, Markham, Froggatt & Irwin, announced his passing, stating he died peacefully in hospital after a short illness, with his wife and family by his side. They described his death as “a sad loss to us all” and praised his “illustrious career.”
The actor rose to fame playing the lead in Wycliffe from 1993 to 1998. In a 1997 interview, he spoke about the challenges of filming in Cornwall, noting the unpredictable weather, including “terrifying gales” and snow on Bodmin Moor, but added that the mood lifted when the sun returned.
