Dr Hannah Fry, the mathematician and BBC presenter, has reportedly signed up for the second series of The Celebrity Traitors. The 42-year-old professor, who last year became the first Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, is said to be joining Claudia Winkleman's hit game show.
An insider told The Sun: “Dr Fry very much ticks the ‘academic’ box filled last year on the show by Dr David Olusoga, who of course made it to the final.” The source added that Fry, whose YouTube channel has garnered more than 100 million views, “isn’t just a brainbox… she has a great personality and already has a loyal band of followers thanks to her BBC shows.”
Fry is one of several stars rumoured for the series, alongside Oasis legend Liam Gallagher, Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy, and This Morning's Alison Hammond. Earlier this year, actor Richard E Grant was reported to be signing up, and producers are also keen on Hugh Bonneville, known for his role in Downton Abbey.
A BBC spokesman declined to comment, saying: “We are not commenting on speculation and details for The Celebrity Traitors series two will be announced in due course.” The first series, which saw Alan Carr win nearly £90,000 for charity, drew more than 15 million viewers for its final.
