British Tourist Dies in Lanzarote Balcony Fall, Second Man Critical

A British tourist has died after falling 20 feet from a hotel balcony in Lanzarote, with another man in critical condition after a railing reportedly gave way. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in the resort town of Costa Teguise.

The two men, aged 56 and 54, fell when the balcony railing collapsed, according to local media. The 56-year-old died at the scene, while the 54-year-old was taken to the intensive care unit of Doctor José Molina Orosa hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Emergency services responded to reports of the fall at around 1:30 am. The Spanish Civil Guard has opened an investigation into the maintenance of the railing and the hotel's security. The hotel's name has not been disclosed, and it is not confirmed whether the two men were friends or relatives.
