Forest Owner Marinakis in Altercation with PM's Nephew

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos, was photographed with a torn shirt following an apparent altercation in the stands during the Euroleague Basketball final on Sunday night. The 58-year-old was attending the match between Olympiacos and Real Madrid, which his Greek club won 92-85.

Incident Details

Social media footage shows an agitated Marinakis with a ripped shirt, shouting at an individual while being separated by a barrier and security personnel. It remains unclear how his shirt became torn. Greek outlet Ekathimerini reported that the argument was with Grigoris Dmitriadis, the nephew of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. In the footage, Marinakis and Dmitriadis do not come into physical contact.

The cause of the altercation is unknown, and Nottingham Forest have declined to comment on the incident.

Marinakis's Background

Marinakis has owned Olympiacos since 2010, leading the football team to 11 league titles and the Europa Conference League trophy in 2024. He purchased Nottingham Forest in 2017 and guided the club to Premier League promotion via the play-offs in 2022. Forest qualified for European football in 2025, reaching the Europa League semi-finals before losing to eventual champions Aston Villa.

The 2025-26 Premier League season was challenging for Forest, who went through four permanent managers and battled relegation. Vitor Pereira was appointed in February and secured survival. Forest finished 16th, five points above the relegation zone, after a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on the final day.

Olympiacos's basketball team secured their fourth Euroleague crown, defeating Fenerbahce in the semi-finals and Real Madrid in the final.
