Epstein Files Dump: Mandelson, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Under Fresh Scrutiny
Epstein Files: Mandelson, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Scrutiny

The release of millions of pages from the so-called "Epstein Files" has intensified scrutiny on several high-profile British figures, with fresh revelations about their connections to the late convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. The document dump, made public by the US Department of Justice, contains over three million pages that shed new light on communications and interactions involving Lord Mandelson, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

Lord Mandelson's Government Information Leaks

Documents from 2009 appear to show Lord Mandelson, who served as business secretary at the time, sharing sensitive government information with Epstein on multiple occasions. In one email exchange, the former UK ambassador to the US forwarded a memo from then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown's senior adviser discussing potential tax cuts and asset sales to reduce national debt. Epstein responded asking about "salable assets," and months later, Mr Brown's government announced a £16 billion asset sell-off including the Dartford Crossing.

Further communications from 2010 suggest Lord Mandelson confirmed to Epstein the timing of a 500 billion euro bailout package for the euro currency, which European finance ministers announced just one day after the email was sent. Shortly before Mr Brown's resignation, Lord Mandelson appeared to tell Epstein "I finally got him to go today," with Epstein responding about increasing the value of chapters in Mandelson's book.

Financial Transactions and Payments

The documents indicate bank transactions totalling approximately $75,000 (around £55,000) from Epstein to Lord Mandelson between 2003 and 2004, though the peer has stated he has "no recollection" of receiving these payments. Additionally, Epstein reportedly paid for an osteopathy course for Lord Mandelson's husband, Reinaldo Avila Da Silva, in 2009 during the height of the financial crisis. Email exchanges show Mr Da Silva thanking Epstein for a £10,000 payment that included £3,225 for "school fees."

Andrew's Photographs and Communications

The former prince features prominently in the released documents, including a series of undated photographs that appear to show him crouched over an unidentified woman. The images, released as part of a 100-page photographic document, show Andrew touching the fully-clothed woman's abdomen while another person's feet rest on a table in the background. The decor in the photographs matches that of Epstein's New York mansion, though the exact location remains unconfirmed.

Email Exchanges with Epstein

In August 2010 email exchanges, Epstein appears to introduce Andrew to a "26, Russian, clevere beautiful, trustworthy" woman, describing her as someone Andrew would "enjoy having dinner with." Andrew responded by asking Epstein if it was "good to be free" months after Epstein's release from prison for procuring a minor for prostitution. In the same month, Andrew apparently told Epstein: "Wish I was still a pet in your family." A month later, Epstein requested "private time" with Andrew following an invitation to dine at Buckingham Palace.

Sarah Ferguson's Emails and Charity Closure

The former duchess's communications with Epstein reveal her expressing feelings of being "hung out to dry" by the royal family. In a July 2010 email, Sarah Ferguson told Epstein "no woman has ever left the royal family with her head," referencing her difficult departure. Earlier that year, she had discussed financial difficulties with Oprah Winfrey and became embroiled in a cash-for-access scandal involving an undercover reporter.

Personal Messages and Accusations

Multiple emails from Sarah to Epstein include her telling him "I am at your service. Just marry me" in 2010, with similar "marry me" messages appearing months earlier when she described another woman to Epstein as "single" with a "great body." In a 2009 email, she described Epstein as "the brother I always wished for" and thanked him for compliments made "in front of my girls." However, by September 2010, she appeared to accuse Epstein of being "friends with me to get to Andrew," and referenced hearing from Andrew about Epstein having a "baby boy."

Following these revelations, Sarah Ferguson's charity has announced its closure. Her spokesman previously stated she regretted her association with Epstein, while Andrew vehemently denies any wrongdoing. Lord Mandelson told The Times newspaper that none of the recent files "indicate wrongdoing or misdemeanour on my part." Police are reviewing reports of alleged misconduct in public office following emails involving Lord Mandelson, adding to the ongoing scrutiny of these high-profile connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
