The inaugural Enhanced Games in Las Vegas concluded with a single world record, leaving organisers relieved despite bold promises. Greek swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev clocked 20.81 seconds in the men's 50m freestyle, edging the official record by 0.08 seconds. However, the record is unofficial due to a banned skinsuit and doping.
Mixed Results for Organisers
CEO Maximilian Martin bowed at Gkolomeev's feet, claiming the event had 'changed the world' and arrived in mainstream culture. Yet the night lacked the excitement and multiple records forecast. Three clean athletes, including Fred Kerley and Tristan Evelyn, won their events.
Clean Athletes Triumph
Paris silver medallist Fred Kerley won the men's 100m, taunting rivals to 'work a little bit harder.' Tristan Evelyn, racing clean, won the women's 100m in 11.25 seconds, stating 'winning takes more than chemistry.' Hunter Armstrong of Australia also won clean in the men's 50m backstroke.
Despite underwhelming results, Martin promised a return next year, noting that 250,000 viewers watched live on YouTube.
