Declan Donnelly, co-host of I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, has offered his perspective on the heated altercation between campmates Adam Thomas and Jimmy Bullard that aired on Tuesday night's episode. The clash occurred during the Bushtucker trial Rancid Run, when Bullard, 47, uttered the infamous phrase "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here," halting the challenge and putting both at risk of eviction.
Dec's Balanced View
Appearing on the show's spin-off Unpacked, Donnelly, 50, expressed understanding for both parties. He said: "You can kind of understand Adam reacting the way he did because, like we say, he’d only just caught a break and he was having a nice time. He wanted to stay as long as he possibly could." However, he also defended Bullard: "But, on the other hand, you don’t know what people are going through in their own heads, mentally where Jimmy was. So, you can’t fault Jimmy for that."
The Trial Fallout
During the challenge, Bullard told the Geordie hosts: "Boys, I don’t think I’ve got it in me." Thomas, 37, continued, but the trial stopped when Bullard quit. Thomas screamed: "Are you f***ing taking the p***?" and added: "I am in there getting covered in f***ing ants!" Bullard called his reaction "pathetic." The campmates ultimately voted to send Bullard home, keeping Thomas in the competition.
Behind-the-Scenes Tensions
The feud, filmed in September 2025, reportedly caused chaos behind the scenes. A source told The Sun: "Adam totally lost it. He started screaming at Jimmy, calling him a c*** and every other name under the sun. It was completely unexpected and deeply shocked the other campmates." Producers attempted to persuade both to appear at the live final on Friday, April 24, but the rift remained unresolved. The source added: "As it stands, they can’t stomach being together on stage in front of an audience after everything that happened."
Adam's Emotional Journey
Thomas will break down in tears again on Thursday night when the camp receives voice messages from home. This follows his ongoing feud with boxer David Haye, who has been accused of bullying. Thomas revealed he sought therapy after clashing with Haye in the jungle. On his podcast At Home With The Thomas Bros, he emotionally said: "It was like being back in school again... he was just mind f***ing me." Haye later dismissed Thomas as "weak" and a "Chihuahua," despite apologising previously.
Haye's Controversial Remarks
Haye, 45, sparked bullying complaints after branding Thomas "useless" for excusing himself from a trial due to his autoimmune condition psoriatic arthritis. He said: "Who gives a s**t if he doesn't feel well. He's a grown-ass man. I don't like guys who are a bit useless." Haye doubled down in a recent interview, claiming Thomas needs to "do some push-ups" rather than therapy.
Campmate Reactions
Other campmates, including Scarlett Moffatt, Sir Mo Farah, and Harry Redknapp, received heartwarming messages from loved ones during the same episode. Moffatt struggled to control her emotions as her fiancé and son Jude told her they loved her for the first time. Thomas, upon hearing his children's voices, responded: "There's magic in it."
