A father has expressed his profound grief after his son died from meningitis just hours after first feeling unwell. Sean Walters described the loss of his son, Lewis Walters, a sixth-form student, as an unimaginable tragedy. Lewis passed away in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Reading, Berkshire.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
Sharing his sorrow on social media, Mr Walters posted photographs of Lewis with his family. He wrote: 'Words simply cannot describe the heartbreak and upset we are going through. In the early hours of yesterday, we lost our Lewis. Within just a few hours of feeling a bit unwell, he developed sepsis and was taken from us.'
A Courageous Fight
Mr Walters added: 'He fought hard and was very well cared for by the ICU team, but they could not save him. We are absolutely devastated. If you did not know Lewis, he was a funny, sociable, and kind-hearted soul. He loved to include everyone and took great joy in winding me and Kate up.'
