This Morning made for explosive viewing on Friday (April 24) as Craig Charles revealed why one I'm A Celebrity South Africa star was not there.
Craig Charles Addresses Adam Thomas Situation
I'm A Celebrity star Craig Charles has revealed why Adam Thomas failed to appear on This Morning. During Friday's episode of the ITV show, Craig joined fellow campmates Mo Farah and Harry Redknapp to reflect on their time in the South Africa spin-off, with presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.
The trio, all finalists, are set to return for the live final of I'm A Celebrity South Africa later this evening. However, finalist Adam was absent from the interview, and Craig quickly addressed the real reason.
Speaking anxiously, Craig said, "The guys have asked to address why Adam is not here. I'm a bit nervous about this. Since we got back, the last few weeks, it's all been over social media how Harry, Mo and I have not been with or behind or there for Adam as he was getting bullied."
Craig then recalled the time the camp was split into two after the arrival of Harry and football star Jimmy Bullard. With Harry leading Team Lion and Jimmy leading Team Rhino, the two teams competed in a number of challenges.
Former Corrie actor Craig explained that this is when the "banter" between the two camps took place, with boxer David Haye and Adam often exchanging playful dialogue. Craig added: "We poked the bear and then David Haye came back at us right. Now, Adam gave as good as he got; he really did give as good as he got. He was laughing and all that."
"We didn't realise that he was being emotionally affected by it because he never told us. I asked him yesterday, 'Why didn't you tell us?' and he said, 'Well, I didn't want to appear weak.'"
Craig then added that ITV has a "duty of care" and believed producers never recognised the bullying; otherwise, they would have been forced to step in.
Later in the interview, Craig fought back tears as he explained that his experience had been "spoilt" by the backlash some campmates received on social media after the series aired.
On Monday, Adam shared a lengthy post on Instagram explaining how David's treatment towards him left him feeling broken. He wrote: "Watching it back hasn't been easy at all. There were moments I felt pushed to my absolute limit, and if I'm honest, times I didn't even recognise myself. Living with arthritis is something I don't really talk about, as much as I should do…but in there it really took its toll."
Sharing his take on David, he penned: "He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I've told David this, and he's apologised, and that's that! I've moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge."
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
