Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs has sparked fan suspicion over his potential involvement in Theo Silverstone's murder after he lied to police during a questioning about Summer Spellman. Scaffolder Theo (James Cartwright), the abusive husband of Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), was killed in a whodunnit storyline earlier this month. Fans of the ITV show have been desperate to uncover the identity of the murderer, with various characters including Todd, Gary Windass, Danielle Silverton, and George Shuttleworth emerging as potential suspects.
Tyrone's Deception
DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) and DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) have been investigating the case. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) is currently in prison, having been convicted for Theo's murder, but she insists she is innocent. She previously informed DS Connor-Swain that Tyrone had seen her leaving Theo's flat and that Theo was alive at the time. However, when questioned, Tyrone lied and claimed he had not seen either of them.
Now, many viewers have grown suspicious of Tyrone (Alan Halsall) after he began acting secretively. He was seen overhearing Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher), and Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) discussing their concerns for Summer with Todd. At the end of the episode, Tyrone was heard calling someone and saying: 'Apparently Summer is in a right state. Yeah, that's on us. We're putting her through hell. No, no, we need to meet up soon. We need to talk about what happened the night Theo died.'
Fan Reactions
Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their suspicions. One user wrote: 'Yeah, you should feel guilty about Summer, Tyrone. Imagine Hope and Ruby in Summer’s situation.' Another commented: 'Oh what is Tyrone hiding.' A third expressed frustration: 'So stupid this s**t. Why the f**k did Tyrone say he didn't see Summer? He wasn't doing anything dodgy he was literally stood outside his house.' Others noted: 'Summer isn’t looking good is she from the current little prison. And she only wants Tyrone to stop lying, so she can be let go.'
Fans also questioned Tyrone's next move: 'What will Tyrone do now? If he tells the police, Summer might be freed, but he could also incriminate himself in another incident.' One viewer tweeted: 'Yes, Tyrone, squirm in your immense guilt for letting Summer wallow in prison for a crime she didn't commit. #Corrie.' Another added: 'Why can't Tyrone just say he saw Summer on the street, he doesn't have to mention going into the garage? & I really hope Idris isn't sticking around #corrie #coronationstreet.'
Earlier this week, Coronation Street villain Megan Walsh made a surprise return. The athletics coach, played by Beth Nixon, had groomed and manipulated teenage student Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). After her actions were revealed, Megan was arrested. In a recent episode, a viral video showed Megan having a milkshake thrown over her, distressing Will. He later turned to vodka after overhearing his father and stepmother discussing how 'damaged' he was, but was eventually talked down from a scaffolding by his grandmother. Later, Megan approached Will again, saying she missed him, but he rejected her. Hope Stape witnessed the exchange and fled.
