Coronation Street actor James Cartwright has issued a chilling warning that his character Theo could kill again, following the deliberate death of Billy during the Corridale crash. Theo strapped Billy's seatbelt back in to eliminate him and have Todd to himself, and now his controlling behaviour is escalating.
Speaking about upcoming scenes, Cartwright revealed that Theo sets up Todd during a birthday lunch. Knowing Todd has no money, Theo encourages everyone to order freely, then watches as Todd's card is declined. Theo steps in to pay, publicly humiliating Todd and positioning himself as the saviour. 'He's trying to make it look like Todd's useless, and without Theo, he'd be no good whatsoever,' Cartwright explained.
Once alone, Theo berates Todd, and the confrontation turns violent. Cartwright noted the size difference: 'Theo's this larger, bigger muscular scaffolder; to impose his physicality on him is a tool that he's now using.' He added that violence in a relationship 'becomes more extreme every time it goes unchallenged.'
Theo's jealousy also targets James, who helps Todd home after a few drinks. 'Theo absolutely loathes James,' Cartwright said. 'He's really handsome, he's fit, he's a lot of things that Theo isn't.' Theo struggles with his own sexuality, and seeing James comfortable and out drives him mad. Cartwright joked darkly: 'If James was driving a minibus, he wouldn't be getting out alive!'
With Theo's grip on Todd tightening and his paranoia growing, viewers are left wondering how far he will go. Billy's death proved he is capable of murder, and the actor's warnings suggest more violence may be on the horizon.
