The Guardian has issued corrections for several articles published recently.
RAF Lakenheath Clarification
An article titled 'Life next door to a US air force base' (18 May, p16) incorrectly stated that RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk is the largest US air force base in Europe. In fact, that distinction belongs to Ramstein Air Base in Germany. However, Lakenheath does host the largest concentration of USAF combat-ready aircraft in Europe.
Ely City Status
Further correction: The same article referred to Ely as a town. Ely is actually a cathedral city.
Homophone Error
In 'Peacocks divide opinion in Italian seaside town' (16 May, p34), the text read, 'The birds … can be seen perching on rooftops and fences, or peaking out from trees.' The correct word should be 'peeking' (to look quickly), not 'peaking' (to reach a highest point).
