Channel 4 has broadcast a shocking two-part factual drama exploring the notorious 'honeytrap murder' that gripped Britain. Episodes can be streamed online now.
Is Vengeance: Murder on the Heath Based on a True Story?
Yes, the drama is based on the real-life murder of 21-year-old Gagandip Singh, who was brutally killed by his friend Harinder 'Ravi' Shoker in 2011. The TV executive was lured to his death in a deadly love triangle that went horrifically wrong.
The Crime
The victim was beaten unconscious before being placed in the boot of his sister's Mercedes, which was then driven to Blackheath and set ablaze. Channel 4 explains: "He died a terrible death on Angerstein Lane – a post-mortem revealed he was alive when the car was ignited and that he died from inhaling toxic fumes."
The Perpetrators
Mundill Mahil, who lured Gagandip to the student house where he was attacked, was described during the trial as "manipulative, vengeful and deceitful". She had alleged he tried to assault her, leading to the fatal confrontation.
Writer and director Aysha Rafaele said: "It's a haunting crime that continues to cast a long shadow and I am proud to have been able to work with such a talented young cast of up and coming British Asian actors to bring this devastating story to C4."
