Jarrod Bowen has confirmed he will remain at West Ham United following their relegation from the Premier League, committing to lead the club back to the top flight. The Hammers captain was expected to be among several high-profile departures after the club's fate was sealed on the final day of the campaign, but the 29-year-old has now stated his intention to stay.
Speaking about his decision, Bowen said: 'The main motivation for me is staying and bringing this club back into the Premier League where we belong. There is always going to be rumours and different things going on. For me, it was only right to speak when the time is right, in circumstances like this.' He added that the relegation 'hurt everyone and it should hurt everyone. It was such a disappointing thing but it doesn't last forever.'
Bowen revealed he flew to Prague with West Ham’s new majority shareholder Daniel Kretinsky and right-hand man Jiri Svarc to discuss the club's future. 'The ambition that I got from them in terms of the direction the club wants to move in interested me a lot,' he said. 'It didn't take a lot for me, as this club means a lot to me.' He emphasised his long-term connection, stating: 'I see myself in years to come as a die-hard West Ham fan.'
The forward enjoyed another productive season, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists in the Premier League, marking his fifth consecutive campaign with double-digit goals for West Ham. Across 280 appearances for the club, he has netted 85 goals and contributed 63 assists, including the winner in the 2023 Europa Conference League final that ended a 43-year trophy drought.
Bowen, who has 22 England caps, was not selected in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for this summer's World Cup. West Ham will begin their Championship season on 16 August against Burnley.
