Attenborough Spotted in London Days Before Turning 100

Sir David Attenborough, who celebrates his 100th birthday on Friday, was seen in London earlier this week, prompting fans to share their memories of chance encounters with the legendary broadcaster. The naturalist was spotted near his Richmond home, just days before the milestone.

Dr Bonnie Metherell, 42, recalled meeting Attenborough in 2002 while on a zoology field trip in Borneo. She described how her group's boat was blocked by a kayak carrying Attenborough, who was filming for The Life of Mammals. 'It was a true pinch-me moment,' she said.

Dorota, an English teacher from Poland, remembered watching Life on Earth behind the Iron Curtain in the late 1970s. 'These programmes took me all around the world,' she said, noting that Attenborough's work sparked her love of nature and English.

Annika, 40, from Melbourne, credited Life in the Freezer with her environmental awakening. 'Even now, watching his shows fills me with wonder and urgency to act,' she said.

Another fan recalled delivering a crate to Attenborough's home 40 years ago, where they dismantled it together in the rain to reveal a clay pot from Papua New Guinea. 'I was speechless,' he said.
