Modern Family star Ariel Winter has reportedly ended her six-year relationship with Luke Benward. The 28-year-old actress and the 31-year-old actor parted ways in August 2025, according to People magazine.
Friendship After Romance
A source told People that the couple realized after nearly six years that they were better as friends. 'They just realized after almost six years that they were better as friends,' the insider revealed. 'There's tons of love still there between them. They are still best friends and share the pups, so everything is really good.'
Winter and Benward have not appeared together on her Instagram since last year, and their last public outing was in July 2025. The couple had dramatically relocated from Los Angeles to Tennessee four years ago seeking a quieter life.
The news comes as a surprise to fans who have followed the pair since they began dating in 2019. Winter, best known for her role as Alex Dunphy on the hit ABC sitcom Modern Family, has kept her personal life relatively private in recent years.
