Emails Reveal Andrew's Invitation to Epstein and Romanian Woman for Palace Dinner
Newly disclosed emails from the Jeffrey Epstein files have revealed that Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor extended an invitation to the convicted paedophile financier and a woman described as "very cute" from Romania for a private dinner at Buckingham Palace in 2010. The correspondence, released as part of the ongoing Epstein document disclosures, provides a detailed glimpse into the planning of this controversial gathering.
Epstein's Request and Andrew's Response
According to the emails, Epstein initiated contact with Andrew in September 2010 while he was in London, requesting a meeting. Andrew responded enthusiastically, offering multiple options for their encounter. He wrote, "Great! Where do you want to go — private at BP (Buckingham Palace) or out in a private room or in a restaurant?" The following day, Andrew followed up, stating, "I am just departing Scotland. Should be down by 1800. I'll ring you when I get down if you can give me a number to ring. Alternatively we could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and lots of privacy." He signed off the email with the letter "A."
Planning the Palace Gathering
Epstein promptly replied, "bp pleease (cor)" and later added, "I want private time with you, however, i am here with (redacted names) should i bring them all. so as to add some life." Andrew answered, "Yes. Plenty of space here for chat! Bring them." Epstein then wrote back, "add one more (redacted name) romanian very cute." The documents indicate this Romanian woman was among a group accompanying Epstein, though no further details about the other invitees or how the evening unfolded are provided.
Aftermath and Epstein's Comments
The day after the planned dinner, Epstein emailed Andrew, saying, "great fun, more later." In a separate communication, Epstein told the Romanian woman, "and you were not going to go because of you didn't like your jeans, you were perfect and andrew thought beautiful. no man looks at your clothes, they see through them, what should we do next." This remark highlights the inappropriate nature of the exchange and adds to the scrutiny surrounding Andrew's associations.
Broader Context and Consequences
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at a federal jail in Manhattan in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, with his death ruled a suicide. Andrew has faced serious allegations, which he strenuously denies, that he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre after she was trafficked by Epstein. In 2022, he paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault claim with Ms Giuffre, a woman he claims never to have met.
Andrew stepped down from royal duties in 2019 following a controversial BBC Newsnight interview. However, the publication of Ms Giuffre's posthumous memoir and the US government's release of documents from Epstein's estate have intensified scrutiny over his relationship with the financier. This led to King Charles III officially stripping his brother of both his HRH style and his prince title, marking a significant fall from grace for the royal.
The release of these emails underscores the ongoing fallout from the Epstein scandal and raises further questions about the conduct and judgment of Prince Andrew during his interactions with the disgraced financier.
