Allison Langdon Pays Tribute to Chris Andersen

Allison Langdon, host of A Current Affair, paid a heartfelt tribute to her long-time colleague Chris Andersen during Wednesday night's episode, following his tragic death in Bali earlier this month.

A Beloved Team Member Remembered

Andersen, who worked as a sound recordist on the Channel Nine series for nearly two decades, was on holiday with his wife and son when he suffered a fatal medical episode. Langdon described the loss as deeply painful for the show's close-knit team.

"A Current Affair is one big family, we spend a lot of time together on the road. So, when we lose one of the team, it really hurts," Ally told viewers. "Tonight we pay tribute to our sound recordist Chris 'Ando' Andersen. On holidays in Bali with his beautiful wife and five-year-old son, we believe he suffered a medical episode, passing away last Wednesday. Our hearts are broken."

The tribute included images of Andersen working on the road with the ACA crew, accompanied by words from colleagues. Reporter Dan Nolan said, "For 18 years Chris has been instrumental in telling some of our biggest stories. Not by being in front of the camera, but by capturing sounds."

Condolences and Gratitude

Langdon extended the show's gratitude to Andersen's family: "To the family, Charlotte and little Otis, our gratitude and deepest condolences. Thank you for allowing us to share Ando's incredible life and stories."

Andersen died on May 7 while on holiday in Bali. Nine's chief executive Matt Stanton confirmed his death in an all-staff email, expressing sympathies and urging staff to support each other. Fiona Dear, Nine's executive director of news and current affairs, also paid tribute, noting his longevity at the program as a testament to his talent and the love and trust he earned.

Andersen had been with A Current Affair since 2008 and was widely known by the nickname 'Ando'. He is survived by his wife Charlotte and their son Otis.
