Gary Neville has predicted when Arsenal will be crowned Premier League champions. The former Manchester United defender is convinced that Mikel Arteta's side will secure the title on Tuesday, 19th May, following their dramatic 1-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium.
Arsenal's Crucial Win
Leandro Trossard's 83rd-minute strike proved decisive in a match filled with referee and VAR controversies. The result moved Arsenal five points clear at the top of the table with only two fixtures remaining, though second-placed Manchester City hold a game in hand.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville outlined his prediction: "I think City beat Palace, I think Arsenal beat Burnley and win it on May 19, the Tuesday night, by City not doing the job at Bournemouth."
Neville's Reasoning
Neville believes City will overcome Crystal Palace on Wednesday and Arsenal will dispatch Burnley on Monday, but he doubts Pep Guardiola's outfit will beat Bournemouth the following evening. "I think that could just be maybe a step too far with how Bournemouth are right now and it being Iraola's last game and just the fact they are a good side," he added.
He described Arsenal's win over West Ham as "a dog of a game" and expects City to face a similar challenge at Bournemouth. "I think Arsenal win it without kicking a ball on that Tuesday night," Neville concluded.
Remaining Fixtures
Arsenal still have to face Burnley and Crystal Palace, while City travel to Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa. After the league season, Arsenal will shift focus to the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on 30th May.
