"For many, it would be a dream scenario. However, my mom strongly preferred celebrating at home, as did my parents. Given our family circumstances, it was considerably more practical, especially since I would need to board a plane the following morning regardless. Remaining at home simply makes the travel logistics much easier."

The family's situation is shaped by Elsa Mendoza's health struggles. She received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis approximately eighteen years ago. Her condition experienced a significant "downhill" deterioration following a subsequent diagnosis of COVID-19, adding considerable complexity to her ongoing battle.
Despite the physical absence from Pittsburgh, Mendoza emphasized that his family intends to host a celebratory gathering in South Florida. He movingly expressed his desire to be amongst those who have consistently supported his athletic career. "I wished to stay and create this memory with everyone who has invested in my football journey—mentors, coaches, family, and friends," Mendoza explained. "Being able to share that moment with all of them will constitute the finest memory I could possibly make, rather than restricting it to just ten or twelve individuals in Pittsburgh."
